You set aside an evening for parent-teacher conferences, in the hopes you can sit down with certain families and help head off whatever issues are preventing your students from doing their best. You make calls, put together an appointment list, then hope and pray. It always seems like the ones you need to talk to the most just can’t show up. I know, I’ve been there!

True story, I was a single father of two for six years and my oldest had some issues in high school. I did my best but there were just some meetings I couldn’t make. My heart goes out to those parents, but PLEASE… try to make at least one.

On a side note, I am looking forward to all the questions like, “My child has a 98 in your class, what must he do to raise that grade to a 100?” Just short of opening a Thunderdome in my room, it gets THAT competitive! Especially at an IB school.

Two men enter, one man leaves!
